History  kingdom of Kusan

Kingdom of Kusan (established 1786), or Landschap Koesan was a kingdom, that was situated in the region of
Tanah Kusan. The Tanah Kusan region was next to the kingdom of Tanah Bumbu, which consists of Batu Licin, Cantung, Buntar Laut, Bangkalaan, Cengal, Manunggul, Sampanahan. In the Tanah Kusan region there was also the kingdom of Pagatan. The area was originally a part of the Sultanate of Banjar, submitted by Sunan Nata Alam to VOC-Holland on August 13, 1878.
During the reign of the fouth king, Prince Jaya Sumitra, the center of the kingdom was moved to Sigam, Pulau Laut. Prince Jaya Sumitra then became King of Pulau Laut and Batu Licin II. Prince Djaja Soemitra, son of prince M. Nafis, became King Kusan IV, 1840-1850; he moved to the kampung of Malino and become Raja Pulau Laut I in 1850-1861. Since that time the gornment of the kingdom of Kusan was combined with the Kingdom of Pagatan. The Federation of these 2 kingdoms was called the Kingdom of Pagatan and Kusan.


Kusan and other small kingdoms under the Sultanate of Banjar.

Under the Sultanate of Banjar there were several small kingdoms in the region of Tanah Bumbu and Pulau Laut. They were semi-independent. Because government services were not covered by the Sultanate, these kingdoms kingdoms were given authority to rule within their region.
Small kingdoms under the rule of the Sultanate Bandar in Tanah Bumbu and Pulau Laut are:

1. The kingdom of Pagatan,
2. The kingdom of Kusan,
3. The Kingdoms of Cengal Manunggul and Bangkalaan,
4. The Kingdoms of Cantung and Sampanahan,
5. The Kingdom of Sebamban,
6. The kingdom of Batulicin,
7. The Kingdom of Pasir,
8. The Kingdom of Kotabaru.

1) KUSAN

* 1786: Raja Kusan I : Pangeran Amir bin Sultan Muhammad Aliuddin Aminullah,
* 1830 – 1840: Raja Kusan II: Pangeran Aji Musa bin Pangeran Aji Muhammad sebagai raja Bangkalaan, Batulicin, Kusan. Pangeran Aji Musa meninggal pada bulan Januari 1840.
* 1840 – 1845: Raja Kusan III, Pangeran Muhammad Nafis bin Pangeran Aji Musa Raja Bangkalaan(1840-1845), mangkubumi Gusti Jamaluddin, berkedudukan di negeri Kusan sendiri.
* 1845: Raja Kusan V: Pangeran Jaya Sumitra bin Pangeran Aji Musa, sebagai mangkubumi Pangeran Abdul Kadir, berkedudukan di negeri Kusan sendiri.
Pangeran Djaja Soemitra anak dari pangeran M. Nafis dan menjadi Raja Kusan IV tahun 1840-1850, kemudian ia pindah ke Kampung Malino dan menjadi Raja Pulau Laut I pada tahun 1850-1861. Sejak itu pemerintahan kerajaan Kusan digabung dengan kerajaan Pagatan.
Prince Djaja Soemitra was son of prince M. Nafis and became King Kusan IV in 1840-1850, then he moved to the village of Malino and become the King of the Pulau Laut I in 1850-1861. Since then the reign of the kingdom of Kusan was combined with Pagatan kingdom.
* Pangeran Abdul Khadir (Raja Sigam) bin Pangeran Aji Musa, Raja negeri Kusan, Batulicin & Pulau Laut. Belakangan negeri Kusan diserahkan kepada Raja Pagatan.
* La Paliweng Arung Abdul Rahim, Raja negeri Pagatan dan Kusan
* Ratu Arung Daeng Makau atau Ratu Senggeng.

2) KESULTANAN BANJAR (Tanah Bumbu, Kotawaringin, Kusan, Pagatan)

* 1785 – 1789: Raja Kusan 1, Pangeran Amir bin Sultan Muhammadillah,
* 1830 – 1840: Raja Kusan 2, Raja Batulicin 2 dan Raja Bangkalaan 6, Pangeran Hadji Moesa bin Pangeran Muhammad,
* 1840 – 1845: Raja Kusan 3, Pangeran Muhammad Nafis bin Pangeran Aji Musa Raja Bangkalaan, mangkubumi Gusti Jamaluddin,
* 1850 – 1861: Raja Kusan 4 dan Raja Pulau Laut 1, Pangeran Jaya Sumitra bin Pangeran Aji Musa (sejak 1845), mangkubumi Pangeran Abdoel Kadir,
* 1845 – 1861: Raja Kusan 5, Raja Batulicin, dan Raja Pulau Laut 2, Pangeran Abdoel Kadir bin Pangeran Haji Musa.

3) RAJA PAGATAN DAN KUSAN

* 1855 – 1871: Raja Arung Abd al-Karim, anak,
* 1871 – 1875: Raja Arung Abd al-Dżabbar; regent 1871-1875), saudara lelaki,
* 1875 – 1883: Ratu Arung Daeng Mengkau (Makau), saudara perempuan,
* 1883 – 1885: (regen) Sjarif Taha dengan Batulicin, menantu Abd a-Rahima II,
* 1885 – 1893: (regen) Pangeran Mangkoe Boemi Daëng Machmoed, anak Mengkau,
* 1893 – 1908: Raja Arung Abd al-Rahim II Andi Sallo, saudara lelaki,
* 1908 – 1912: Kerapatan (regent).
