The kingdom of Sahe is often also called as Sanghela. According to HM Zainuddin in his “Aceh In Inscriptions and track history”. Before Islam came to Aceh, in Aceh there were already towns in the Hindu kingdoms like the Kingdom of Poli in Pidie, which flourished around the year 413 AD.
According to HM Zainuddin, all the hindu cities were destroyed after Islam became strong. Traces of that kingdom can still be checked even been buried, such as in the area of Paya Seutui, District Ulim (Ulim border with Meurah Two).
About the arrival and influence of immigrants from Ceylon was also told in the papers of H Mohammed Said for the Pekan Kebudayaan Aceh (PKA) II, August 1972. He explained, that in 1891, a foreign researcher named GK Nieman had found 150 words of the language Campa in the language of Aceh.
