The kingdom of Tolo was located on Sulawesi, District Jeneponto, prov. South Sulawesi. This kingdom already existed in the 16th century.

Before the Kelurahan Tolo was founded, there existed in that region already a kingdom, a kekarean, namely Kekarean Tolo and the king was called Kare. Kekarean Tolo existed before the 16th century.
At that time kekarean Tolo was part of the Kingdom of Gowa. But entering the 16th century, through war, kekarean–kekarean in the region Turatea managed to free themselves from the power of Sombayya ri Gowa.
Once separated from the Kingdom of Gowa, Kekarean Tolo remained as an independent kingdom, and did not join the Kingdom Binamu. The centre of Tolo Kingdom was Tolotoa. Oleg royal palace was surrounded by a fortress called Dampang Tolo. Since the defeat against the Dutch forces, the fort was destroyed, and the kingom ended.
Entering the 20th century, the Dutch Government rebuild the kingdom, called Kakaraengan Tolo. But the city of the king is no longer Tolotoa, but was moved to Bonto Lebang.
