History of the kingdom

The kingdom of Tanah Bumbu was subordinate to the Sultanate of Banjar, which existed in the 17th century in the eastern province of South Kalimantan. Previously this region was the region of the kingdom  of Pamukan. The  Sultan of Banjar appointed Dipati Tuha as King of Tanah Bumbu I.

Kings of Tanah Bumbu, among others:
1. Pangeran Dipati Tuha (1660-1700)
2. Mangu (1700-1740)
3. Ratu Mas (1740-1780)
4. Since 1780 it became the kingdom of Bangkalaan.

In 1780, the kingdom of Tanah Bumbu was divided into two regions. The northern part was handed over to Pangeran Prabu, and was called the kingdom of Bangkalaan, which was the center of the kingdom of Tanah Bumbu before.
While the southern part washanded over to the Ratu Intan I, becoming Queen of Cantung I and Batulicin.

* Raja Tanah Bumbu 1: Pangeran Dipati Tuha (anak/ipar Sultan Saidullah – raja Banjar),
* Raja Tanah Bumbu 2: Pangeran Mangu (anak Pangeran Dipati Tuha),
* Raja Tanah Bumbu 3: 1740-1780, Ratu Mas (anak Pangeran Mangu).

2) KEPANGERANAN BATULICIN

* Raja Cantung 1/ Batulicin 1: 1780-1800, Ratu Intan I (anak Ratu Mas – Raja Tanah Bumbu 3),
* Raja Cantung 2/ Batulicin 2: Raja Gusti Besar (keponakan Ratu Intan I),
* Raja Batulicin: Pangeran Kassir bin Sultan Sulaiman.


Small kingdoms under the Sultanate of Banjar.

Under the Sultanate of Banjar there were several small kingdoms in the region of Tanah Bumbu and Pulau Laut. They were semi-independent. Because government services were not covered by the Sultanate, these kingdoms kingdoms were given authority to rule within their region.
Small kingdoms under the rule of the Sultanate Bandar in Tanah Bumbu and Pulau Laut are:

1. The kingdom of Pagatan,
2. The Kingdom of Kusan,
3. The Kingdoms of Cengal Manunggal and Bangkalaan,
4. The Kingdoms of Cantung and Sampanahan,
5. The Kingdom of Sebamban,
6. The kingdom of Batulicin,
7. The Kingdom of Pasir,
8. The Kingdom of Kotabaru.
